medicare enrollment periods

Initial, Special, Guaranteed Issue, Open, Annual Enrollment Periods for Medicare. We are all at som

Initial Enrollment (IEP)

Your IEP begins 3 months before the month you turn 65, your birth month, and 3 months after your birth month.   Example, if you were born in July, then your IEP is from April 1 until October 31.

Annual Enrollment (AEP)

Annual Enrollment lis from October 15 until December 7 each year.  Most changes to all plans occur during this period.  This is a great time to evaluate your Medicare plans and make sure everything is working to your best interest.   MediWhat.Info offers free services to help you make decisions.

Open Enrollment (OEP)

OEP is from January 1 until March 31.   Medicare Advantage plans can be changed during this period as well as during AEP.   Again, MediWhat.Info offers free services to you to help.

Special Enrollment (SEP)

SEP is exactly as it sounds, special.  Some special things that can trigger this period are natural disaster declarations, moving to another county, losing company insurance or changes in Medicaid coverage.  During an SEP, you can make changes to your plans, even if it is not during an AEP or OEP.  Some plans, for disabilities,  have a year round SEP meaning you can make changes year round.
